Our online Medical Billing Administrative Specialist (MBAS) certificate program is designed to provide students with the appropriate didactic theory and skills required to begin a career in medical office and billing administration in various healthcare settings. The courses are grouped around the knowledge and skills required for medical office assistants and medical billing specialists’ roles in a medical practice.

Graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Professional Biller (CPB) exam from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Swedish Institute’s Medical Billing Administrative Specialist program will prepare you to handle the responsibilities associated with medical administrative procedures and adhere to the regulatory requirements of the healthcare delivery system.

You will begin with introductory coursework in medical insurance, patient scheduling, medical records management and revenue cycle management.  You will gain an in-depth knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding, ICD-10-CM and CPT concepts.  You will practice administrative functions related to patient billing and collections procedures, scheduling appointments, front office and administrative duties and customer service.

Our program is available in a 50.5-quarter-credit course sequence and can be completed in as little as 12 months. All classes are offered online to fit your busy schedule.
