Many of our students work while going to school to help pay for tuition, books, and school supplies and reduce their student loans. The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides part-time employment opportunities to students with financial needs. Prior work experience is not required to secure an FWS position.
The FWS program encourages community service work and valuable work experiences related to the recipient’s course of study. Placement for FWS positions is limited, and acceptance cannot be guaranteed. Students are advised to search for FWS jobs as early as possible before each semester or quarter starts. FWS student employees are subject to the same work ethic and policies that apply to all Swedish Institute employees.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for an FWS program, a student must:
- Be enrolled in at least a part-time schedule
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA at Swedish Institute
- Have successfully completed their first semester or quarter at Swedish Institute
If accepted to the FWS program, the amount you will earn will be listed on your award notification letter.
