Professional Continuing EducationLicensed massage therapists, graduates of the Institute, and certain other health care professionals are invited to attend classes in our Professional Continuing Education Department. Some classes are open to all who are interested and have no prerequisites. Classes and WorkshopsAll of our Continuing Education classes and workshops fulfill the requirements of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) for continuing education units (CEUs). The number of hours each class fulfills is provided within the course description. Some of the workshops offer additional credentialing in the form of certifications. Check our current course listing for details. Continuing Education Classes > ModulesFive-week introductory classes (modules) in different massage modalities are offered in the Massage Therapy Program and may be taken through the Continuing Education Department. Each module, meeting once a week for five weeks, offers a twenty-hour overview of specialties such as Thai massage, Polarity, Tuina and CranioSacral Therapy. Career Enhancement ProgramOur Career Enhancement Program was created to allow graduates who completed our Massage Therapy Program prior to December 1999, when it was a diploma-granting program, to take additional courses in order to obtain an Associate in Occupational Studies (A.O.S.) degree. This is a 30 credit-hour program that full-time students can complete in 12 months. Graduates and licensed massage therapists who do not wish to obtain a degree can also take some classes within the Massage Therapy Program on a non-matriculated basis.
Modules and Career Enhancement classes are offered through the Massage Therapy Program. Please contact an Admissions Advisor at 212.924.5900 ext. 125 for more information.
