Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does the Personal Training Program offer? The Personal Training Program provides an exciting and innovative curriculum that benefits those entering the fitness field, massage therapists wanting to expand their practices, personal trainers seeking higher levels of certification, and those simply interested in learning about fitness, exercise and the human body. What certificate do I receive upon completion of this training? In addition to receiving a Swedish Institute Advanced Personal Training Certificate, you will be prepared to take national certification exams offered by both ACE (American Council on Exercise) and NCSA (National Strength and Conditioning Association). Are there prerequisites? There is a requirement of at least 16 credits of anatomy and physiology, which can be completed before or during the program. If you have taken these credits previously, the credits would need to be evaluated and a challenge exam passed. Classes in Anatomy & Physiology I, Myology & Kinesiology, Neurology, and Anatomy & Physiology II may be taken at the Swedish Institute either prior to or while enrolled in the Personal Training Program. How long will it take to complete the program if I have the prerequisites? Two terms of 10 weeks for L.M.T.s or students who have tested out of the anatomy and physiology requirements. How long will it take to complete the program if I need the prerequisites? Two semesters of 15 weeks/4 or 5 days per week for non-licensed individuals or individuals without the anatomy and physiology background. When does the program begin? The Personal Training Program begins three times a year: What is the registration deadline? We suggest that you submit your application well before the deadline, as classes do fill up. What is the schedule of classes for the Personal Training Program courses? Schedules vary each term; see Schedule in the Overview section. What is the schedule for the Basic Science pre-requisites?* You have a choice depending on space availability:
Wed/Thurs 8:30 am-12:30 pm Semester 2 Tues/Wed 8:30 am-12:30 pm * This schedule is subject to change How much is tuition if I have the prerequisites? $1,200 per term for a total of $2,400 plus fees. How much is tuition if I need the prerequisites? $1,200 per term for the Personal Training Program plus $2,200 per semester for the science prerequisites for a total of $6,800 for the entire certificate, plus fees. Does Swedish Institute offer payment plans? The Swedish Institute offers an interest free payment plan to assist with paying for these courses. A valid credit card number must be on file.
